I'm excited to announce the relase of "RINGMASTER", my last experimental project of the year.

It's Breakbeat, Techno, Acid and House all merged into one album ! I've went with the "Circus" theme because it reminds me of the early 90s Madchester scene, bright colors and flashing lights.

Let me know what you think =]

New update :

I've been working on multiple projects with different themes, trying to hone my skills and expand my knowledge (learning sound design, trying to replicate desired effects, learning how synths work) thanks to youtube.

As you may have noticed, I tend to alternate between 1 "standard" release and 1 "experimental" release for each album/ep/mixtape, so after Liquid Soul there will definitely be an experimental body of work to showcase what I can do with a set theme.

Also shoutout to GameGWL for using some of my songs on his upcoming game, make sure to check out his profile !

See you in 2 weeks !

So here it is, the fall mixtape. To keep your ears entertained !

I finally got the samples cleared so it's all gucci now.

Focusing on sound over melody, I opted for big beats and odd progressions, also using different tools (mainly sampling) to further develop my skills.

Some songs date back to 2020, some were recorded this year, it's all over the place in terms of theme.

"Liquid Soul" (releases December 7, 2022) will feature 10 songs :

  • Liquid Soul (intro)
  • The Fox
  • Never The Same
  • Into the Flame
  • Dobuita at Dusk
  • Wit's End
  • Smokin' Gun
  • Silk Threads
  • Poolside
  • From Sorrow, to Solace (outro)

It'll be a general funk/house/synthwave album with elements of psychedelic rock, prog rock and jazz fusion.

The mixing and mastering is entirely different, I visualized a shining diamond on a black background and built the sound design from that sole vision.

I've decided to remove the text from the album cover to let you think and create expectations before delving into it, I'll let the music do the talking.

(If I could give it a genre, it'll be Grungified Funk)

(The feedback I've received from my friends and family all share the same sentiment, I'll let you discover by yourself :D)

It's about music I've always wanted to make, it's a showcase of skill, songwriting and musicianship, a culmination of years worth of work (most of the songs were drafts 5-6 years ago, the idea wasn't there but I've had a general theme going on based on music I was listening to at the time).

The album will be danceable, more melancholic sounding, bittersweet with moments of catharsis, it's an emotional downpour.

I'd say it's by far my best project yet. It has the high quality polish of "Mercurial Dreams", transposed to compositions I've never done before, it was my first time working with professional collaborators, ever, the exchange of ideas was immaculate, I've learned so much from this sole project alone.

All songs succeed one another, the (concept) album is meant to be played front-to-back for the best experience.

Now it's time for the questions, ask away !

So I've wanted to make a blogpost about this for a while now, let's get into it :

  1. Korg M1 : let's be real, it came out in 1988 and the presets are so recognizable you can pretty much exclusively use this VST and write a whole song with it. From house, to jazz, to ambience, I have yet to find the versatility in another VST. Definitely my favorite of all time.
  2. NI Massive : Native Instruments is known for Kontakt, but Massive is pretty much unrivaled in the lead & bass category. Its timbres are unmatched and the technology is pretty impressive, being digital yet having an analog sheen to it, it's like a beefier version of the Korg Wavestation. If you like making techno and house, you NEED Massive.
  3. u-He Diva : the analog emulation king. Don't have the tools for 80s-sounding music ? Diva is here for you. This VST is present in pretty much every retro-themed song I've written, it's just too good and I love the fake warmth to it. Really modular, straightforward and the interface doesn't burn your eyes. For info, Diva is the Zebra's successor.
  4. Dexed : now how could I miss Dexed ? The best Yamaha DX7 emulator ? The bass preset used in the majority of 80s dance songs ? The beautiful electric piano sound ? If you crave warmth, there's plenty of it in this VST. It sounds sharp, edgy and really electronic. And you want to know what the best thing about this VST is ? It accepts real patches and presets from the 80s, I'll upload the directory for you to use!
  5. Korg ARP Odyssey : first released in 1972, this synth is the beginning of the musical space age. Herbie Hancock, ABBA, Jean-Michel Jarre, Yellow Magic Orchestra...so many pioneers used this magical piece of equipment to innovate and push the boundaries of music forward. It's pretty much a Minimoog, but less complicated, having only two oscillators that you can mess around with.

And that's about it !

The final chapter of amusical trilogy, a journey through space, time and synapses, will take its end.

We Departed, we Dreamt, now our soul is Liquid.

The satin diffraction through a polished diamond,

Is the latin percussion shaking up your mind ?

I can see your heart light up, let it flow

Just free yourself to the art, and make it glow !
